Randfontein Local Municipality recently initiated a program of greening and beautification. The program focused on areas such as main arterials, parks, and illegal dumping spots. The Beginning of 2010 was marked by the launching of an environmental protection and preservation program, a first for the Randfontien Local Municipality. Randfontein’s existence dates back to the 1550s when AmaNdebele lived as one nation at Emhlangeni (today’s Randfontein area) under King Mhlanga approximately between 1550-1580. The name of EMhlangeni is today being translated to the Sotho language, Mohlakeng.

In line with the requirements of the constitution of the Republic of South Africa, the Randfontein Local Municipality provides the following services:
